Artist Print Series 024 - Amy Sanders de Melo
The 24th in our Artist Print Series.
Amy Sanders de Melo is a Colombian-American ceramic artist living and working in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As an artist and educator with ongoing vision loss, she utilizes Braille as a way of telling stories, encouraging meditation and healing, and creating space for disability. Her wheel-thrown ceramic work often features hand-textured Braille messages to urge audiences to reflect on their own humanity, the resiliency of the human spirit, and the necessity of empathy and empowerment for marginalized groups. This series aims to create a home for all of us...not just some of us– a place where everyone can experience acceptance, dignity, and healing.
