The 33rd in our Artist Print Series. For 2024, we've made a conscious decision to put more energy into highlighting our incredible team. This print is by our Production Manager, Krista Mustain, also known as PRINT PARTY.
Krista Jo Mustain is a fiber artist and muralist who is inspired by her obsession with color, pattern, and celebrating everyday activities. She has a fascination with comfort and a deep love for naps. Mustain graduated with her BFA in Textile Design from the University of Kansas in 2011 and relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2015. Her work has previously exhibited in galleries such as ahha, DNA Galleries, Living Arts of Tulsa, and 108 Contemporary. Krista has participated in mural festivals such as Plaza Walls, Habit Mural Festival, and Mural Fest 66. Outside of her art practice, she is the Production Manager at Flash Flood Print Studios, where she loves getting to work with their team of artists to bring other creatives' visions to life. She has been involved in the Sunny Dayz Mural Festival since 2021 as a muralist, a mentor, and a two time committee member. She is now on the Sunny Dayz, Inc board of directors and is the Chair of the Development. Krista loves nachos, confetti, bad tv and spending time with her dog, Moonstone.
This print features an interpretation of the artist's unmade bed using images of her hand dyed textiles and quilts. Many of the dyed pieces utilized in this design were originally inspired by the very vivid, video game-esque dreams that Krista has, which helps bridge the gap between the tactile nature of her work and this print. Krista says, "my hope was to capture the warmth and essence of a rumpled bed after a really great nap, a particularly vibrant dream, or laying around gabbing with your besties."
